Ohio Make It With Wool Contest

When and Where:

Anyone regardless of race, creed or sex who meets age and other guidelines may participate.
Entry must be postmarked by October 1 and received by the State Director no later than October 5 of the contest year.

Who is Eligible To Participate:

  1. To promote the beauty and versatility of wool fabrics and yarns

  2. To encourage personal creativity in sewing, knitting, crocheting, spinning, and weaving wool fabrics and yarns

  3. To recognize creative skills

  4. To develop life skills

Objectives:

Judging Criteria:

  1. Appropriateness to contestant's lifestyle

  2. Coordination of fabric/yarn with garment style and design

  3. Contestant's presentation

  4. Construction quality

  5. Creativity

How Do I Enter?

  1. You must participate in the state where you live or attend school

  2. You may enter more than one garment and/or category, using a separate form for each entry and paying the proper fees

  3. Complete and mail entry forms along with required nonrefundable fees and 5" x 5" swatches to both State and National Offices. (See individual Divisions for details)

  4. Attach a 5" x 5" sample of each wool or wool blend fabric or knitted, crocheted or woven swatch to each entry form. See the FAQ page for information on testing your fabric/yarn for wool content

What Fabrics May I Use?

  1. 100% wool or a wool blend with a minimum of 60% wool or specialty wool fiber. Specialty wool fibers include mohair, cashmere, alpaca, camel, llama and vicuna

  2. The entire garment body (back, front and sleeves) MUST be wool or wool blend fabrics

  3. Trims, facings, linings, interfacings and underlinings may be fabrics other than wool and wool blends.
